Edmund Frederick Monette, 95, of Hampton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born on March 30, 1929, in Lowell, MA to the late Lester and Beatrice (Gaudette) Monette. Ed graduated from Lowell High School and New England College of Pharmacy/ Northeastern University. Upon graduating, he joined the US Navy. After his military service, Ed met the love of his life, Kathleen Frances (O’Sullivan) Monette. They married in 1955 and raised three children. They owned and operated Monette’s Pharmacy in Lawrence, MA until his retirement. Ed was a quiet, caring man who took pleasure in horses, fishing, reading, and playing (and usually winning) chess and cribbage with friends and family. He was a loving father and papa, and enjoyed spending every moment he could with his children and grandchildren. Ed was predeceased by Kathleen, his wife of 57 years, and his brother Lester W. “Bill” Monette Jr. of Dracut, MA. Ed is survived by his son Edmund Monette and wife Sharon of Hampton, his daughters Katherine Nartiff and husband Timothy of Hampton, and Mary-Ellen McLaughlin and husband Kevin of Brentwood, six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and sister Beatrice (Monette) Keyes of Kennesaw, GA, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 5PM to 7PM on Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Catholic Charities
