Berwick man charged in Rochester crash that injured 5

A teenager was medflighted following a single-vehicle crash March 3, 2020 on Old Dover Road in Rochester.

ROCHESTER — A Berwick, Maine, man was arrested Tuesday and charged in connection with a March 3 car crash on Old Dover Road that left five people injured.

Rochester police charged Kyle Hendrickson, 22, with five counts of second-degree assault. The single-vehicle crash resulted in one teenager being transported by medflight.

Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said on March 3 there were six occupants ages 15-21 within the southbound 2005 Cadillac CTS when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over. One occupant was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital and three to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.  A 16-year-old was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries and later flown to Boston. 

Hendrickson was transported to Strafford County jail after his arrest Tuesday and was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.

The March 3 crash was reported about 5:24 a.m. Rochester police, fire and Frisbie EMS personnel responded to the area of Briar Ridge Estates on Old Dover Road.

First responders located the vehicle off the side of the road in a wooded area. The vehicle had sustained heavy damage and appeared to have rolled over before coming to rest upright on all four wheels, police said.

Police also arrested Kyle Tondreau, 22, of Rochester. Tondreau is being charged with facilitating a drug or underage alcohol house party, a misdemeanor level offense. Tondreau was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Rochester District Court Jan. 25. Tondreau was convicted of the same offense in 2018, police said. The conviction was connected to a Feb. 1, 2017 motor vehicle accident in which an 18-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on Gonic Road in Rochester, police said.
