McKayla Kortes, senior, York High School

York senior McKayla Kortes was a Class B South second-team all-conference selection this season.

Kortes was a dominant player in her first three years for the Wildcats, and that continued in her fourth and final season at York.

Kortes had multiple games scoring at least 14 points, including a season-opening 14-point performance in a win over Yarmouth. She also scored 14 points in a win over Lake Region, another 14 against Traip Academy, 15 points against Freeport, and 16 points in a Class B South first-round win over Mountain Valley,.

Kortes was a Class B South all-conference second-team selection.

Lilly Nossiff, junior, Dover High School

Dover junior Lilly Nossiff, center, scored a career-high 39 points in a quarterfinal loss to Pinkerton.

Look no further than Dover's Division I opening-round 69-52 win over Keene, to see the productivity and impact that Nossiff had this season for the Green Wave.

The junior forward had 27 points and 16 rebounds to help the Green Wave pull off the 17-point win. Nossiff then scored a career-high 39 points in a 84-65 quarterfinal loss to Pinkerton Academy.

A scoring force and tenacious rebounder, Nossiff proved to be one of the best players in Division I this season.

Avery Romps, senior, Portsmouth High School

Portsmouth's Avery Romps averaged 13.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game this season.

Romps will be taking her basketball talents to Saint Anselm College next school year after a remarkable four-year career with the Clippers.

This season, Romps averaged 13.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, earning her a spot on the Division I all-state first team.

In a win this season against Falmouth, Theriault had 14 points, 12 rebounds, six steals and four assists for the Hawks - a true do-it-all game. She also had 18 points in a win over Kennebunk and 15 points in a win over Noble.

BOYS BASKETBALL NOMINEES

Dylan Jabre, senior, Dover High School

Dover senior Dylan Jabre ended his career with a 16-point showing against Trinity in a Division I tournament game.

Jabre can flat out shoot the ball. But, if you commit too much to his shooting ability, he can drive to the rim for a score, or he can find the open teammate.

Just ask Pinkerton about the senior guard. In an upset win heard around the state, Jabre scored 35 points, with 15 coming in the fourth quarter, in Dover's 76-58 win over the eventual Division I state champion Astros.

Jabre also scored 16 points in Dover's tournament exit loss to Trinity, and was named to Division I all-state second team.

Matthew Jernigan, sophomore, Oyster River High School

Oyster River High School sophomore Matthew Jernigan was a Division II honorable mention selection this season.

As a freshman last year, Jernigan showed flashes of what he can do, especially in the Division II tournament when he led the 14th-seeded Bobcats to the semifinal round.

That carried over to a great sophomore season where Jernigan averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

As he heads to upperclassmen status, Jernigan's game will simultaneously continue to grow.

Jernigan won Seacoast boys Athlete of the Week in late December, for his performance of 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Souhegan, and a 13-point game the same week earned him the award.

Jernigan was a Division II honorable mention selection this year.

Cole McClure, freshman, St. Thomas Aquinas

St. Thomas Aquinas High School freshman Cole McClure averaged 16.5 points per game on 45 percent from the field, and 3.6 assists this season, leading the Saints to the Division III state championship.

The term remarkable might not even do justice in terms of how good McClure's freshman season was for the state champion Saints. The Division III Player of the Year averaged 16.5 points per game on 45% shooting from the field, and averaged 3.6 assists.

McClure, who also was a Division III all-state first-team selection, scored a game-high 20 points in the Division III state championship win over Conant.

His calm demeanor doesn't show how much of a competitor he is, but the Saints have a star for the next three years in McClure.

Derek Parsons, senior, York High School

York’s Derek Parsons launches a 3-pointer against Spruce Mountain in a Class B South tournament game last month at the Portland Expo. Parsons was a Class B South all-conference first-team selection.

A guard who can shoot and create for others? Parsons is that guard, and the Wildcats were lucky to have him wear the York jersey the past four years.

Parsons scored 11 points in York's Class B South quarterfinal win over Spruce Mountain, hitting big shots in that game.

Other standout games include a 22-point game in a win over Poland, and a 21-point game in a win over Kennebunk. He also scored 14 points in a win over Poland.

Parsons was a Class B South all-conference first-team selection.

Brady Rogers, senior, Exeter High School

Exeter High School senior Brady Rogers scored a career-high 39 points in a win against Bishop Guertin in this year's Division I tournament.

Coming over from St. Thomas Aquinas High School for his senior season, Rogers took his talents to the Division I level, and did not disappoint, being named to the Division I all-state first team.

The Blue Hawk senior scored a season-high 39 points, with nine 3-pointers, in Exeter's 90-80 win over Bishop Guertin late in the season. He also had performances of 22 points, six rebounds and three steals in a quarterfinal loss to Trinity, 23 points in a win over Concord, and 20 points in a win over Memorial.

A guard with good size and a nice handle, Rogers can get to the rim with relative ease and has a nice shot.
